The Role
At IYK, the engineering surface is incredibly broad. Our stack ranges from hardware up through the traditional web2 stack, and ending at the blockchain itself.
As a Senior Backend Engineer at IYK, you will operate at the intersection of web2 and web3, working with us to build robust backend systems that power our both our consumer and enterprise product offerings. Your work will be integral to ensuring that our technology is both scalable and reliable.
The ideal candidate for this role should be comfortable establishing patterns for the rest of the team to follow (e.g. database schemas, API design, etc.). Maintainability and scalability matter to you. We don’t expect you to know everything, but we do expect that you will research and implement features with care.
Our stack currently consists of:
TypeScript
Next.js (React, MobX, Stitches, Radix) frontend
Nest.js (TypeORM, JWT auth) backend
PostgreSQL databases
Hasura GraphQL Engine
Solidity smart contracts
As a senior backend engineer, you'll collaborate with us to:
Develop robust backend systems and enhancements to support our core product offerings
Build out and execute on IYK’s overarching technical vision in alignment with our product roadmap
Create a backend infrastructure that prioritizes security, usability, and scalability
Work closely with IYK’s founders and frontend team to ensure seamless integration of backend systems
Need to Have
4+ years of experience using Javascript/Typescript/Node.js and Nest.js, or similar frameworks
Experience developing for security, usability, and scalability
Proficiency in Git and CI/CD and a solid understanding of GraphQL and SQL
Experience building solutions across multiple architecture layers
The ability to clearly articulate technical tradeoffs and to make executive decisions in light of these learnings
Experience working with frontend engineers/product managers
Nice to Have
Experience writing smart contracts
Experience working with ethers.js, viem, or similar libraries
Interest in the intersection of crypto and consumer experiences

Salary range: $150-225K salary + equity (dependent on experience level)
