Hi, we’re Strider!

We are founded by a team of humans who have worked within entertainment and games for decades, and we have some thoughts. During our time within these worlds, we’ve come to realize the creative process is broken. This has sparked a desire to bring the love of the story-telling process back to the communities who love them.

With these thoughts in mind, it helped us form some of our core beliefs:

- Everyone is a storyteller

- Creating stories together is more fun than doing it alone

- Making things can feel more like a game

- People should be rewarded for their contributions

- Capybaras are amazing creatures who bring chill relaxation wherever they roam

OUR GOAL

To harness the creative power of communities to be productive together, with new, transparent ways of getting everybody compensated for their efforts.

Strider was born from our desire to make collaborative storytelling easier, more fun, and super social. We want to provide communities with the tools they need to tell stories and build worlds together.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a preface, we understand that applying to any role is a bit scary. From here onwards, read knowing that this is ideally what we want but what we are seeking is more than just a list.

We are currently seeking a creative Webcomic Creator to join our team! This is a unique opportunity because your expertise in this space will have a direct impact on how we continue to improve our platform. The ideal candidate would be someone who has experience creating a webcomic whether professionally or for fun. The end goal is to find someone who wants to help create a better, funner, and newer experience for creators, fans, and readers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• You will work with the Chief Product Officer and Chief Creative Officer to create webcomics in conjunction with a community.
• You will help create a synergistic process of working and guiding a story with a community of readers and fans.
• You will both write and illustrate webcomics at a high velocity.
• You will plot out storylines and create detailed storyboards of key plot points.
• Ability to create (both narrative and art) a Webcomic episode (~50 panels) per week at quality while planning for and iterating quickly on community feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS | If you have some or all of the following, please apply!

• You have a passion for comics, webcomics, manga/manhua/manhwa, and a deep understanding of the medium's storytelling conventions.
• You have 2-6 years of experience in webcomic creation.
• You have proven experience in writing and illustrating webcomics at a high velocity.
• You have a professionally mature attitude towards sharing ownership of a story’s direction and are able to take on feedback.
• Must be open to welcoming the influence of the community on the end product.
• Must be open to feedback and direction from leadership.
• You have a super strong talent for narrative and visual storytelling.
• You have a distinct visual style and aesthetic that is perfect for webcomics and uniquely yours.
• You have exceptional story-writing skills and a personal narrative style that’s been expertly crafted.
• You have excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly and succinctly explain concepts and support your artistic choices.
• You have an exceptional ability to express concepts visually through storyboarding.

NICE TO HAVE

• You are an avid and active creator on webcomic platforms (ex. Webtoons, Tapas).
• A deep passion for social platforms and a knack for digital storytelling.
• A desire to work within a creative, collaborative, and data-driven team environment.
• A plus but not required - comfortable on camera.
• An interest in the ethical use of genAI technologies.
• A passion for games or other interactive experiences and entertainment (movies, games, music).

$20 - $30 an hour

The above hourly rate only captures the approximate market rates within the USA. The final hourly rate will consider additional factors such as the location of work (candidates outside of the USA are welcome), living costs, and of course, the interview itself.
